Okuno respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). By using okuno.world or placing an order, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Who we are
Okuno is a brand registered in the Netherlands under KvK number 92947212. Registered office: Corkstraat 46, 3047AC. We are the data controller for the personal information collected through okuno.world. For any privacy questions, contact privacy@okuno.world.
2. What we collect
Account & order data: name, email, shipping and billing address, phone number, and payment details.
Usage data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, referring URLs and similar.
Communication data: emails or messages you send to us.
Cookies: see Section 7.
3. How we use your information
To process orders: fulfilling your order, sending confirmations and providing customer support.
To understand and improve your experience: we use analytics tools such as Google Analytics 4 to learn how visitors use okuno.world — which pages are visited, how long people stay and where we can improve. This data is aggregated and anonymous, and used only to make the experience better.
To communicate: sending order updates, responding to enquiries and (with your consent) sharing stories and updates about new drops and collections.
To meet legal obligations: tax records, fraud prevention and other regulatory requirements.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process personal data under the following GDPR legal grounds: Contract — to fulfil your order; Legitimate interest — to operate and improve our business; Consent — for marketing communications and non-essential cookies; Legal obligation — to comply with tax and consumer law.
5. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with trusted service providers needed to operate Okuno:
- Shopify — our e-commerce platform, processes order and account data.
- Payment processors (Stripe, Mollie, PayPal) — to process transactions securely.
- Fulfilment & shipping partners — to pick, pack and deliver your order.
- Email service providers (Shopify Email or equivalent) — to send order confirmations and newsletters.
- Analytics providers (Google Analytics 4) — to understand website usage.
- Marketing platforms (Meta Pixel, with consent) — for retargeting and campaign measurement.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data — ever. The service providers listed above process your data strictly on our behalf, under data processing agreements, and only for the specific purposes of operating Okuno. They have no right to use your data for their own commercial purposes.
6. International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside the EU. In such cases, we ensure adequate protection through Standard Contractual Clauses or other GDPR-compliant safeguards.
7. Cookies
okuno.world uses cookies for essential website functionality, to analyse traffic and to personalise content. You can manage your cookie preferences via the banner shown on your first visit, or via the cookie settings link in the footer. Full details are in our Cookie Policy at okuno.world/cookies.
8. Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Order data is kept for 7 years (Dutch tax obligation). Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Account data is kept until you request deletion.
9. Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to: access your data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, restrict processing, object to processing and request data portability. You may also withdraw consent at any time and lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@okuno.world. We respond within 30 days.
10. Data security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. Despite our efforts, no system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password for your account.
11. Children
okuno.world is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, please contact privacy@okuno.world.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always available at okuno.world/privacy. For material changes, we will notify you by email or via a notice on the website.
